New Main Street Softworks Inc. Monetra® Feature Simplifies SmartPayments Migrations

GAINESVILLE, FL, August 29, 2011 - Main Street Softworks, Inc. today announced new enhancements to the company's flagship Monetra® Version 7 payment server software product, including a fully-transparent web-services emulation feature for users of the recently-discontinued SmartPayments Savannah Server transaction processing software from Hypercom Corporation.

Hypercom Corporation announced the “end-of-life” for the SmartPayments product line on July 15, 2011, effective immediately. The unusually short notice of that end-of-life announcement has put many SmartPayments users into a precarious situation regarding system security and compliance with PCI requirements. Main Street has created a SmartPayments-compatible web-services emulation feature to enable SmartPayments customers to rapidly migrate existing applications to use the Monetra® high-performance PCI PA-DSS validated transaction processing solution instead.

According to a Hypercom spokesperson, its decision to discontinue the products was prompted by findings of a security assessor from a review of the products initiated after a customer's discovery of a security breach. In a letter sent by Hypercom to its SmartPayments customers, Hypercom stated the SmartPayments applications could be compromised due to “identified critical vulnerabilities.” Because those vulnerabilities have not been publicly identified, merchants and service providers who continue using the SmartPayments applications may be at risk of a security compromise, regardless of any steps they may have taken to address known issues.

Monetra Version 7 is a PA-DSS security-validated middleware/gateway interface software product that securely and reliably processes credit card, debit card, gift card, and electronic benefit card, and check transactions from applications such as point-of-sale and eCommerce systems.
